Agios Pateres-Nea Moni

The route starts from the monastery of the Holy Fathers and following the asphalt road for about two hundred meters, we reach the entrance of the path, where there is the information sign.
The distinct path after a few meters it gives way to the old cobblestone road, very well maintained and relatively wide, based on also well-preserved dry stone.
Almost all along the way are preserved the stone stairs that smooth the slope slope and offer satisfactory passability. The route includes successive maneuvers that end at the monastery of Nea Moni.

Along the way, we see from above the building complex of Nea Moni and opposite us we see Mount Penthodos and the Holy Monastery of Agios Markos which is built on top of it. The view to the city of Chios and the coasts of Asia Minor is unique.

At high altitudes the soil is rocky, with sparse vegetation and remnants of burned pines, while in many places the natural regeneration of the forest is evident.
As we descend, the vegetation thickens. At the ends of the trail we see arbutus, vines, vines, oregano, astyphides and many naturally reborn groups of small tracheal pine trees. p>

Before we reach the historic monastery, which also marks the end of the route, we pass in front of the church of Agios Loukas, which is the cemetery church of Nea Moni.
